About Diamond Dave Jewelers by Design

My passion for customizing started when I was a kid, with my father making revisions on his own cars and bikes. I never owned a bike or a car that I eventually didn't change everything on. In my teens and twenties, I spent most of my time and money on fast cars, bikes, boats and blondes. Being crafty with my hands and putting a personal spin on cars, I started transforming my talent into making custom jewelry that resembled a '59 Cadillac, '57 Chevy and other types of charms.

When my passion and knowledge grew stronger in jewelry, I started buying the equipment needed to allow me to focus more on my talent of customizing. I started with making a few pieces for myself and close friends at first. I then made a custom logo charm for Merle Kilgore as a gift. Merle called me a few days later and said, "Hey, Diamond Dave, can you make one for my wife just like mine?" With Merle being co-writer of the famous song 'Ring of Fire' and Hank Jr.’s manager, I thought to myself, "Wow, I really love that name." I have been "Diamond Dave" ever since. Over the years, I have made custom pieces for Hank Williams Jr., Big Bopper Jr., Eddie and Troy (of Montgomery-Gentry), Kid Rock, Big & Rich and Gretchen Wilson just to name a few. I was even lucky enough to make the 14KT gold key for Orange County Chopper's "Liberty Bike." Be sure to keep a close eye on our website to see more of my upcoming projects as they are unveiled.

Originally from Washington, I grew up helping in our family’s jewelry store. From a young age, I knew that my future would include designing and creating things. Art has always been my gift and I was trained in different art techniques at an early age. I can remember drawing pictures in full perspective while my friends were drawing stick figures.

Our family used multiple methods to create jewelry and as I grew older I was able to incorporate my artistic side into the manufacturing process. I hand carved waxes as well as perfected the art of hand engraving. I also developed a love for creating original and unusual pieces. I later studied Business at the University of Northern Colorado and eventually moved to Southern Indiana where I opened and ran my own jewelry store.

After joining forces with Dave, we learned to incorporate my traditional training with the state of the art 3D CAD/CAM technology that we use today. With over 50 years experience in the jewelry industry, as well as the extensive training I have received – running from traditional hand methods to computer aided design – I can help you create a piece of jewelry that will be as unique as you are.

I started my jewelry career just a few days after my seventeenth birthday at our local jewelry store in my hometown of Mountain Home, Arkansas. It was a part time job that would set the course for the rest of my working life. I moved to Paris, Texas and enrolled at Paris Junior College. It is one of the largest jewelry technology schools in the US. I studied jewelry technology and gemology for two years. I am now a bench jeweler and I also hold a certificate in gemology.

I have worked in the jewelry industry almost 30 years in management and sales. I love what I do and have been very blessed to be able to do what I love. Spending one on one time with my clients is my favorite part of the job. I get to be a part of the “happy times” in people’s lives like birthdays, a wedding anniversary or the birth of a child. I get to celebrate with our clients everyday and after 30 years I still love my job. Stop in and I will help you select a one of a kind piece of jewelry made especially for you.
